Application Of Design

Images and research pages from my trend book.
MY

I liked this project because it tought me how to do research in a different way than what I was doing before.
This project covered:
-Research and Ideas Development
-Portfolio of design work/visual presentation
When had a Cad induction on Adobe Illustrator, at first I didnt enjoy it because im not a computer person, but surprisingly I picked it up quite quick. I liked the fact that this project covered alot of things such as research into colour, trend, illustrations and key shapes. And I also how professional my outcome of work turned out.

Design Realisation

The Design Realisation started over Christmas, I had to start doing my research over christmas
- researching into all market levels through shops visits
(which I really enjoyed)
-get a chosen vintage garment
(which I bought from the charity shop)
- & choose suitable fabrics for summer 2011

Part two of the brief
Involved
- Patterns and Technical package including technical brief
-Flat working drawings
-paper plans
-lay pattern
-instructions for manufacture

I didnt really like the 2nd part of the project because I had never used adobe illustrator but I got used to it after but unfortunately i got used to it at the end of project.

Here are some of the images from project:

Tailoring Processes

These are some of the images I took from the Yorkshire playhouse. This was the first thing we did when we started the project and I really enjoyed a little outing out of Uni & it was also my first intial research to my project which helped me put alot for my project.

When I first got the brief I wasnt too excited about it because It didn't involve making a garment at the end of the project but when I got in to the project I really enjoyed it... I liked the fact that I was learning new skills about taioloring and everything that I had always wanted to learn to do like sewing a button, using the button hole machine, putting padding into jackets, using all the machinery. The fact that we had Andrew, Lyn & Hugo to do inductions with us in small groups made it easier for me to pick up how to use certain machinery. I really enjoyed the induction on Piping and I think It useful to know how to do piping for future projects and making future garments. I made half a jacket which was intresting to find out how much effort and time goes into making a jacket. I was really pleased with my overrall final outcome and I worked really hard on this project and it was rewarded by the feedback I got from Sue at the end of the project.

Application Of Design , Year 2

Photoshoot:
Mui Mui 'Charge' collection!

I really enjoyed the first project we did working as a team of five. It was the first time ever working in a group and I really enjoyed it! working as a group helped my time keeping on projects and I also got inspiration from my group members by the way they worked and tackled the brief. For our photo shoot we used jump leads and sparklers because our brand was 'Charge'

I was also really pleased with my final garment, which was the first garment that I made in my second year. We also had to do a presentation at the end of the project, I was really nervous but the fact that it was a group presentation calmed my nerves and I thought I did quite well in the presentation.

This is an image of my final line-up
This is the first time I did my final line-up using photoshop and I really liked the final outcome because it looked professional.

What we covered in this project:

-Market Levels
-Research and Ideas Development
-Visual presentation

Young African Fashion Weekend!!!

June 2009
South Kensington, Chelsea
London

I was involved in The Young African Fashion Weekend, which was in London. And I really really really injoyed the experience! In total I made eight outfits and I also learnt and experienced how much effort and how well you need to manage your time when doing a fashion show.... It was a great opportunity for me to be involved in such an experience because it will help me when it comes to my final year fashion. I also learnt from all the other designers that were in the fashion show.

15 Best Pieces of Work Created Throughout the Year

Images from my Interdisciplinary Processes brief. I am very pleased with my garment because it shows that I am now capable of making a wearable garment
Design Sheet inspired by skeletal images. I like this image because it shows that I
tried to experiment with images to see weather they could be used as a garment.

This is an image of my final Line-up for Zara Spring/Summer 09 collection. I really like the final outcome of the image. It was the first time I did a line-up and I am very pleased with the outcome.

Image of a trend board. I like the image because I used CAD and my own drawing techniques on the image as well.

Another image from my Fashion and Art Culture brief, I like how you can the see the links between African and Japanese Culture when you look at the picture.

This is an image from my Fashion and Art Culture brief, I used my own images as well as inspired images I found.

. I really these three images which are from my Creative Design Realisation because I incorporated my own drawings and worked on top of them with Photoshop.

This is also another image from my digital elective classes; I took a picture of someone with smoke covering their face so you couldn’t see their face.

I really like these images from my digital elective classes, they way I captured different angles of her face and used lighting on her face to cover half of her face is really effective. I also like how the image tells a story.

An image from my Interdisciplinary Processes, I like this image because it shows my own fabric sample and my artist’s link.

This image is from my digital photography elective, I particularly chose this image because I like the composition of the 3 images.

This image is from my Fashion Art and Culture project. The image incorporates both African and Japanese culture; this is shown by the props I used for the photo shoot i.e. African Jewellery and Geisha makeup. The photo shoot was time consuming but I really enjoyed it.
